Marshall County 2016 EQIP Program
Executive Summary

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service in Marshall County, Alabama, will hold a signup for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for the 2016 Fiscal Year. This signup will be held on a continuous basis. Any eligible landuser, who has a resource concern or problem on cropland, forestland, hayland, or pastureland, may apply for assistance through this program. Applications may be made at:

The local work group has specified that program funds will be allocated within the following resource concerns in Marshall County:

  • Grazing Lands
  • Water Quality
  • Erosion/Soil Quality
  • Forest Health & Wildlife

All applications will be ranked within each resource concern. The highest ranking application (ie. those applications with the highest environmental benefit points) within each resource concern will be selected for approval. This sequence will continue until all funds have been exhausted.

The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will end October 16, 2015. Any applications filed after this date will be considered in the next pool of funding should additional funds become available.

Eligible practices and restrictions will be the same as the statewide list with the exception of ponds. Ponds will no longer be a financially assisted practice. Pasture planting will be limited to a maximum payment amount of $7240; Herbaceous Weed Control - $1125; Forest Site Prep - $2925; Chemical Release $2767; Tree Planting - $6160; Waste Storage Facility with Roof & Cover - $17,577 & Cover Crop -$8186 (1yr.). Limited Resource, Socially Disadvantaged, New and Beginning Farmer & Veteran Farmer applicants may be funded at higher program payment rates.
