National Earth Team Award Winners:

Volunteer Service Award-Chief’s Cup:


Ohio State Conservationist Terry CosbyThe Ohio Team partnered with Earth Team volunteers for student field days and various public events throughout 2016. The goal of the partnership was to educate and promote the mission of the NRCS to urban and suburban youth groups, recruit volunteers, and promote diversity. The result of their efforts was remarkable increase in Earth Team Volunteers and Earth Team Volunteer hours worked. Ohio State Conservationist Terry Cosby pictured with award.




NACD/NRCS Earth Team Award: 

Medina Soil and Water Conservation District, Medina, Ohio

Medina Ohio SWCD award winnersThe Medina Soil and Water Conservation District successfully partnered with Earth Team volunteers to bridge the gap of pollinator habitat awareness and backyard conservation education between urban, rural, and suburban land owners. 5,287 people in their community were educated on the native Monarch Butterfly and the importance of their pollinator habitat and the vital role they play in the ecosystem.                                                                                                                                                                       Partnership Earth Team Award:              

Jennings County Pollinator Committee, North Vernon, Indiana

Jennings County Pollinator CommitteeThe Jennings County Pollinator Committee partnered with Earth Team Volunteers to educate and inform their community on the importance of pollinators in their community. 360 volunteer hours were provided by Earth Team volunteers in creating and enhancing pollinator habitats.



NRCS Employee Award:                           

Mitchell L. Aman, Fayetteville, Tennessee

Mitchell AmanMitchell L. Aman exemplified the impact NRCS can have when working with Earth Team Volunteers. Mitchell coordinated with 23 Earth Team volunteers on multiple projects over the year. His dedication to the NRCS and Earth Team volunteers helped the NRCS achieve its mission in 2016.



                                                                                                                                             Chief’s Field Award:                                 

Holdrege NRCS Field Office, Holdrege, Nebraska

Holdredge, NE field officeHoldrege NRCS Field Office partnered with 26 Earth Team volunteers resulting in 356 hours of volunteer service in 2016. The highlight of their partnership was their volunteer work for the Tri-Basin Ag Water Management Network that resulted in improvements on 17 of their sites.



                                                                                                                                            Individual Volunteer Award:                    

Kristi D’Agati, Ronan, Montana

Kristi D'Agati picturedKristi D’Agati, pictured with NRCS District Conservationist Ben Montgomery, set the gold standard for Earth Team Volunteers for 2016. Kristi implemented 5 unique field trials on 12 different ranches that resulted in low cost, common sense, workable solutions for producers on local natural resource issues. She also assisted with the pollinator outreach program resulting in the donation of over 50 pollinator mixes to Lake Country in Montana.



Group Volunteer Award:                          

Liberty Benton High School Future Farmers Of America Findlay, Ohio

Liberty Benton HS FFAThe Liberty Benton High School Future Farmers of America partnered with Earth Team Volunteers to prepare, plant, maintain and harvest Area 1 People’s Garden. The Earth Team contributed 450 hours to help improve the People’s Garden and the result of their combined efforts provided 1600 pounds of vegetables to local food pantries.
