Coastal & Shoreline: Chesapeake Bay Area

Chesapeake Bay PhotoThe Chesapeake Bay is our Nation’s largest estuary, with a drainage basin covering parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York. The primary land use in these states is agriculture, which may produce runoff that contains fertilizers and pesticides that are detrimental to the water quality of the Bay. The Plant Materials Program selects plants and develops innovative establishment technology to address the resource and environmental concerns influencing the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay.
